Pool Party Makes a Splash with Backyard Community Connections

The Pink Rubies Community Development Corporation recently threw their 4th annual pool party. Over 80 kids, ages 2 to 12, came out with their parents to enjoy a day of swimming, music, laughter, and good food. Grilled hotdogs and burgers made sure every kid felt seen and celebrated. “Some of these kids don’t always get a chance to swim in a private, screened-in pool or just breathe easy in a safe, joyful space—that’s why we do this,” said organizer Nakita Watley. The event receives donations from the community, including school supplies, which were passed on to a local teacher to help kickstart the school year.
