In one of the most harrowing rescues during the catastrophic flooding in central Texas, a Coast Guard MH-65E Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Corpus Christi flew into “some of the worst flying conditions we’ve been in,” according to rescue swimmer Scott Ruskan. Despite the dangers, Ruskan was deployed to the ground, where he triaged survivors and coordinated air evacuations with multiple agencies. His efforts helped rescue more than 200 people from life-threatening floodwaters.
