San Antonio will release most 911 calls, other records from June 12 flood

San Antonio officials say they will make public most of the 911 calls and other emergency response records related to the June 12 flash floods that killed 13 people on the Northeast and West sides.

The city said, however, that it will withhold, at least temporarily, recordings of two 911 calls made by people who later died in the flooding. The city maintains that those recordings are too sensitive to be placed in the public domain, particularly given the risk that they could be posted online.

The San Antonio Express-News requested 911 calls and transcripts, emergency dispatch records, incident reports and other data under the Texas Public Information Act as part of its coverage of the disaster…
