$40,000 reward offered for information on UMass student’s D.C. murder

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Law enforcement is now offering a $40,000 reward for information related to the case of the UMass Amherst student who was killed in Washington, D.C. last week.

Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, of Granby, was one of three people who were shot on June 30th. The Metropolitan Police Department stated in a news release that at approximately 10:28 p.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of 7th Street Northwest for the sound of gunshots.

Preliminary investigation revealed that multiple suspects exited a vehicle at the 7th and M Street intersection and began firing at a group of people. The suspect vehicle involved in the incident has been recovered, and police believe that Tarpinian-Jachym was not the intended target.

Police in Washington are offering a $25,000 reward for information that would lead to an arrest. The FBI is offering an additional $15,000, NBC Boston states…
