New Colorado State Patrol DUI task force team dedicated to El Paso County

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A new Colorado State Patrol (CSP) DUI Task Force team dedicated to Southern Colorado and El Paso County will be conducting increased patrols beginning this weekend.

The Pikes Peak CSP DUI Task Force will begin its increased patrols in El Paso County on Saturday, July 12, through Sunday, July 13.

“This operation is focused on deterring impaired driving throughout El Paso County’s major traffic arteries and feeder roads, coinciding with the opening night of the El Paso County Fair,” CSP detailed. “While impaired driving will be the focus, any dangerous driving behavior observed or reported will be addressed.”

CSP: How to assist in reporting suspected impaired drivers

  • First, the driver should be avoided by getting out of the way.
  • Then, contact CSP after you pull over by calling *CSP (*277), 9-1-1, or (970) 249-4392.
  • Be prepared to provide the following information: vehicle description, license plate number, location and direction of travel, driver description, and the driving behavior being demonstrated.
  • All emergency calls can be made to 911.
