The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has updated its forecast, anticipating a sequence of scorching days ahead for the region with temperatures soaring to thresholds reminiscent of deserts rather than this mountain-bordered metropolis; the mercury is projected to hit an arduous 106°F today, and this heatwave isn’t giving an inch anytime soon, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents can expect a clear sky with calm winds this afternoon, transforming into a west southwest breeze ambling between 5 to 8 mph, even the night won’t bring much reprieve, as temperatures are only set to drop to a warm 75 degrees, the winds will eventually fade after midnight leaving a still, warm air hanging over the city like a blanket too heavy for comfort.
