Midlands man sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to gun, drug charges

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Officials say a Midlands man will spend over a decade in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug and gun charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Wednesday that 36-year-old Curtis Hill, III, pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Hill was then sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.

Prosecutors cited evidence during an investigation showing Hill sold methamphetamine to confidential sources on three different occasions. Hill also had a firearm in his possession during one of the sales.

After the drug buys, prosecutors said Hill ran from police during a traffic stop and tossed methamphetamine during the pursuit. The drugs were ultimately found along with a firearm inside the vehicle…
