The City of Coachella is moving forward with its vision for the future by exploring plans for a passenger rail stop as part of the long-anticipated Coachella Valley Rail project.In the works since 1991, the Coachella Valley Rail line would link the desert community to downtown Los Angeles. According to the Riverside County Transportation Commission, the project is now in its planning phase to narrow down potential station locations across several valley cities, including Coachella.Officials say the rail line could be about eight years away from actual construction.
