Employees touching ready-to-eat foods without gloves: Cumberland County restaurant inspections July 11, 2025

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, 866-366-3723, uses a risk-based inspection reporting process for restaurants and other food handlers.

West Shore Plaza Family Restaurant, 1200 Market St Lemoyne, July 1. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the PA Food Code as evidenced by incorrect responses to food safety questions. Food Employee observed donning single use gloves without a prior hand wash. Employees touching ready-to-eat foods and being informed they needed gloves. Gloves were being placed on when corrected and educated about washing hands first. Corrected on site. Food Employee observed changing tasks that may have contaminated hands without a proper handwash in-between. Observed employee cracking raw eggs and touching ready-to-eat foods without changing gloves. Two food employees were observed washing their hands at the three bay sink rather than the designated handwash sink. Discussed with Management and corrected on site. An open employee’s beverage containers (3) was observed in wait staff area and directly inside of the baine marie on the cook line area, both food preparation areas. Discussed with Management and corrected on site. Food employees observed on the cook line area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as beard covers. Two food employees were observed touching breakfast sandwiches – a ready to eat food – with bare hands. Discussed with Management, discarded sandwiches and corrected on site. Observed no sanitizer solution bucket being used at the cook line area for sanitizing of surfaces and equipment between uses. All foods that are are served raw or undercooked to the customer’s request; however, a written consumer advisory (on the menu, table tent, or placard) is not provided to the consumer. New menus were printed and advisory was missed. Discussed with Owner and Manager, Mena and Sam and will be corrected immediately. Flooring on the cook line area is cracked and broken and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Paper towel dispenser empty at the hand-wash sink in the back area. Corrected on site. Personal use medicines stored in food facility bain marie on the cook line area, are not kept in separate, labeled and covered containers, or a labeled employee area.
