Madison County Sheriff’s Office ramps up patrols amid car theft wave

A wave of car break-ins in Madison County has residents on edge, with the sheriff’s office urging the community to help catch the person responsible. Residents in the Ivey Hills community reported the thefts occurred early Tuesday morning with the items stolen ranging from wallets to computers.

Toney resident Santana Moye says her family left their car unlocked once, and sure enough, the suspect rummaged through it leaving the glove compartment and hand rest open.

“When we got to the car, I noticed that when I opened the door, the glove department was open and the hand rest was up and you could tell that somebody had been rambling through stuff,” Moye said…
