CHICAGO — Fentanyl seizures in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin have skyrocketed this year, according to new numbers shared by the US Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Chicago Field Division.
According to the updated data shared Friday, agents in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin have seized more than 1.5 million fentanyl pills since the year began.

So far this year, agents have recovered more fentanyl pills in the three states than in the previous three years combined.
Agents say in 2022, they seized 64,800 fentanyl pills. That number climbed to 405,200 pills by 2023 and to 589,900 by 2024. But in 2025, the number of seized pills climbed significantly to 1.6 million, a 170% increase over the previous year.
