JSO Seizes Lethal Fentanyl Quantity and Arrests Five in Major Drug Bust in Jacksonville’s Brentwood Area

In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Narcotics Unit has made a major bust in the Brentwood area. Following a tip received last month about a home on West 27th Street suspected to be distributing dangerous drugs, the unit meticulously gathered evidence to secure a search warrant. According to a statement by the JSO, their detectives, with assistance from the District 5 Task Force, executed the search warrant last week.

The operation uncovered an alarming quantity of fentanyl—over 1,200 grams—which authorities have reported to be sufficient to fatally overdose more than half of Jacksonville’s population. The seizure underscores the ongoing fight to contain the rapidly to grow opioid crisis that has plagued not just Jacksonville, but the nation at large. Other drugs recovered from the scene included over a kilogram of cathinone, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, and several pounds of marijuana.

In addition to narcotics, the JSO detectives also confiscated five firearms during the search, one of which was reported stolen and another equipped with an illegal switch.
