Truck crash closes I-40/I-24 in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A rollover crash has closed the interstates leading into Nashville from the east and south Friday morning.

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. at the Interstate 40 and I-24 merger at the split in the inner loop that encircles the city.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Metro Nashville Police Department, a tractor-trailer was traveling east on I-40 when the truck rolled, broke through the guardrail, went down the embankment and crashed into the westbound lanes.

The driver has minor injuries following the crash, according to the Nashville Fire Department. The truck was hauling batteries and transformers, which are now leaking oil onto the roadway…
