City of Savannah hires new Assistant City Manager

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The City of Savannah has named Taffanye Young to the role of Assistant City Manager.

According to a release from the city, Young will play a critical role in supporting City Council-related priorities, community relations, external partnerships and promoting a high-performing culture of accountability and public service excellence. She will also support the City Manager in directing and coordinating the activities and operations of the government.

“As we work to implement the goals of Savannah GPS, Taffanye will guide staff in carrying out the strategies and objectives of our strategic plan,” City Manager Jay Melder said. “Taffanye is an invaluable, dedicated public servant who for over 30 years has helped enhance the quality of City services.”

Since 2012, Young has served as the City’s Chief Community Services. Her previous role had her overseeing a number of vital departments, including Housing and Neighborhood Services, Human Services, Recreation and Leisure Services, Cultural Resources, and the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement…
