Storms set to return along with cooler temperatures

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – If you’ve been enjoying the sunshine lately, soak it up while you can. Rain is on the way and it might be sticking around for a while.

Some areas might wake up to some wet rain this Friday morning with morning temperatures in the 70s.

Expect any rain to clear off for a mix of cloud and sun with temperatures warming into the low to mid 90s.

The ridge of high pressure that’s allowed us to see mostly sunshine is beginning to weaken as a more active pattern takes hold. Winds from the south will keep puling moisture into the region, and by late afternoon, ingredients will start to come together for scattered thunderstorm development.

Not everyone will see rain tonight, but places towards the north around Dimmit, Silverton, or Muleshoe could see isolated pop up storms. A few could drift into Lubbock area after sunset…
