WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Early voting kicked off Friday in the District for the Ward 8 special election, where voters will decide who should fill the seat formerly held by Trayon White — a position he’s now vying to reclaim.
White, who was reelected last fall, was later expelled from the D.C. Council after an investigation found he violated city rules following a federal bribery indictment. He has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to stand trial in 2026.
Despite the controversy, some residents still support his return.
