An Elkridge, Maryland man has been convicted of assault of a detained youth in an incident that occurred while he was a resident advisor at the Lower Shore Eastern Shore Children’s Center in Salisbury.

Incident occurred at youth detention facility in Salisbury
Lawenzo Z. Clarke, age 30, of Elkridge, Maryland, was convicted of assault in the second degree on July 8, 2025, following a two-day jury trial before Kathleen L. Beckstead, Chief Judge of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County.
This offense occurred while Clarke was working as a resident advisor at the Lower Eastern Shore Children’s Center, where he was responsible for the safety and supervision of the youth detained in that Department of Juvenile Services facility, the Office of the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County said in a release.
