CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office has activated a new division designed to find absconders and bring them to justice.
In the past, if a criminal fled to another county, the sheriff’s office could ask law enforcement in that jurisdiction to try to detain the absconder. That offender would often be free until authorities arrested them for another violation somewhere else, at which point the Cheatham County charge(s) would surface.
Thanks to the new warrants unit, which launched in late May, that is no longer the case.
