COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two teens have been arrested after reportedly bringing guns onto the grounds of a Columbia elementary school.
The Columbia Police Department said the incident happened on July 6 at Lewis Greenview Elementary School along Easter Street and not far from Farrow Road. Based on preliminary investigations, police believe 19-year-old Jamil Elam and an unnamed 17-year-old brought guns to the school as part of a planned fight outside the school.
Police learned of the incident and were dispatched to the school. A K-9 team located the 17-year-old hiding in the bushes and carrying a handgun near the school. Elam was arrested the same day during a traffic stop. He was found with an assault rifle and a handgun…
