The Cherokee County School District has earned top national honors for its program to feed students nutritious and delicious meals over summer break!
The school district every summer participates in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Seamless Summer Option, which offers free breakfast and lunch to children, from infants to age 18, during the school break. The excellence of CCSD’s program earned the USDA’s Gold-level Turnip the Beet Award – only 10 school district from Georgia achieved this highest-level recognition, and fewer than 100 are honored nationally each year. CCSD has previously repeatedly earned the Silver level of this honor.
Congratulations to Tina Farmer, executive director for CCSD School Nutrition and procurement services; her leadership team of Toni Hedges, Trang Pham, Mark Johnson and Jessica Emmett; and all School Nutrition professionals whose unparalleled talent and unmatched dedication make this program a success and thank you to our School Board for its longtime support of our program!…
