GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Warmer afternoon temperatures are in the forecast with more sun & a bit less rain the next few days.

- Thursday Night: Evening rain ends, then partly cloudy overnight. Lows in the low/mid 70s.

- Extended: Sun, scattered afternoon storms, and highs in the mid 90s this weekend.
Thursday started on a slightly cooler note (in the low 70s) thanks to slight drying in the atmosphere. Lingering clouds early give way to a partly sunny sky later in the morning. While a few showers from the Gulf are possible in the morning, watch for scattered thunderstorms inland in the afternoon. With more sun & a bit less rain, expect highs in the warmer low/mid 90s today. Any evening rain tapers off, becoming partly cloudy overnight.
Overall rain chances will be a little lower than earlier in the week due to a bit of drying taking place around NCFL. For Friday, look for a mix of sun & developing clouds with a few afternoon storms as temps approach the mid 90s.
The weekend will be hot with mostly sunny skies, along with some scattered, mainly afternoon storms. Temps climb into the mid 90s on Saturday & Sunday. Moisture & rain chances will increase somewhat next week…
