When I was a kid, my siblings and I’s favorite thing to do was walk across town to the video store and just browse. My mom would always let us rent one movie. It felt like Christmas, opening up the VHS box and popping that plastic rectangle into your VCR (the orange Nickelodeon tapes were the coolest). There was a special spot reserved down under for people who returned their tapes without rewinding.
These are problems of the past; now everyone watches their movies on streaming. However, the past is cool again, and in recent years, physical media such as vinyl records have seen a resurgence. On the corner of Porter St. and Byron Center Ave. SW, Bardertown Video, will be opening a storefront, renting and selling a vast collection of primarily VHS tapes. For $1, you can rent any movie in the store, or for $2, you can purchase any film. Want to rent a VHS but don’t have a VCR to play it on? Don’t worry – the store also offers VCR rentals.
