WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) – A Louisiana resident appeared in court in Florida’s Walton County Thursday, when he pleaded “no contest” to charges stemming from a 2023 incident involving a high-speed interstate pursuit and the death of a young child.
D’Quinn Tyrek Butler of Luling pleaded no contest to charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child and fleeing and eluding causing death, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He will be sentenced in October.
The FHP said it was in June 2023 when Butler was driving a Dodge Charger eastbound on I-10 at a high rate of speed. At that time, members of the Florida Highway Patrol Criminal Interdiction Unit were sitting stationary at mile marker 62 in Okaloosa County monitoring traffic.
