The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened early Friday afternoon near a busy shopping area, which includes an Aldi and Cub Foods, in St. Paul’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood. Two people were shot by the suspect during the incident and the suspect is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, St. Paul police said.
St. Paul Police Chief Axel Henry said at a press conference that the incident started with officers responding to a domestic violence call just before noon on Friday for a man with a firearm who apparently pistol-whipped someone and fired the weapon in the home.
When officers arrived at the 1500 block of Jessamine Lane, they learned that the man had left with a “very small child.” About five to six blocks west, in a commercial area with various stores and businesses, a man matching the suspect’s description with a small child was reported to have gone into the Aldi grocery store, Henry said…
