BOISE, Idaho — Zoo Boise has welcomed its newest resident, an 11-year-old female warthog named Makena, who came from the San Antonio Zoo.
Makena is in quarantine, a standard health practice when animals are moved. The zoo stated that people might be able to see her in her chute over the next couple of weeks as she adjusts to her new home.
The warthog’s arrival is part of broader habitat updates at the zoo. The African wild dogs will be rotating into the former hyena space, while Makena will eventually move into the former African wild dog habitat once she is comfortable and ready to explore…
