High Five Coffee reopens Woodfin location nearly 10 months after Helene

WOODFIN, N.C. (WLOS) — High Five Coffee’s Riverside location has officially reopened in Woodfin after closing due to Hurricane Helene.

After the French Broad River rose around 24 feet in September 2024, many residents assumed the shop would be gone forever.

“It was covered in a couple of inches of mud,” said Jay Weatherly, owner and founder of High Five Coffee. “It had essentially taken everything you see and filled it with water.”

But to everyone’s surprise, the building was still standing after the storm. High Five Coffee started to rebuild just a few months later…
