Mount Pleasant puts temporary stop to developments in Historic Districts

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) – The town of Mount Pleasant now has a temporary moratorium in place against accepting and processing major subdivisions in Charleston County Historic Districts.

Since Charleston County began recognizing and approving Historic Settlement Communities, three have been established near Mount Pleasant. They are the Ten Mile Community, the Phillips Community and Hamlin Beach.

As “Historic Districts” recognized by the county, the areas are offered increased protections against development with stricter rules to be met to fit the existing landscape…
