A native of Cuba was arrested for driving on a license which has been suspended for driving under the influence.
A deputy observed 34-year-old Yordano Herrera of New Port Richey in a white Chevrolet Silverado headed east on State Road 44 around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the license plate revealed the vehicle’s registration had expired on Dec. 31, 2024.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and asked Herrera for his driver’s license. He advised that he did not have one but was in the process of trying to obtain a business purpose only driver’s license. He did not have one at the time because it had been suspended for DUI. But he was driving his own truck of which he was the registered owner, the report said.
Dispatch then checked Herrera’s driving history and told the deputy he had multiple sanctions, including revocation, cancellation and suspension, the report said…
