Summer pattern with afternoon storms in place through the weekend

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A typical summer pattern is in place across the Tampa Bay area Friday and through the weekend with dry mornings and developing showers and storms each afternoon.

Temperatures will warm to near average in the low 90s each day.

Rain chances will increase midday for coastal showers and an isolated storm to develop early on the sea breeze. That sea breeze will slowly push inland each afternoon leading to slow moving scattered showers and thunderstorms.

The best chance for late afternoon and evening storms each day will be east of I-75. However, a few showers could drift back toward the coast late in the day but should be dissipating toward sunset.

Next week, deep tropical moisture will arrive to the state along with an unsettled upper level pattern increasing daily rain chances.

Late in the week, a few select forecast models try to spin up weak tropical development in the northern Gulf, something we’re watching for.
