Records: Man shot by Knox County deputies threw sword, mace at them

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Court records are sharing new details into an incident that resulted in Knox County deputies shooting a man in the hand, including accusations that he threw a “bayonet-type” sword and a mace at the deputies.

Earlier this week, 6 News reported that Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies were attempting to serve a warrant at a home in the 7300 block of Windtree Oaks Way on July 9 when deputies shot a man who had a knife in his possession, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. A general sessions docket added new information to what reportedly occurred as officers attempted to serve the warrant.

Around 9 a.m., deputies arrived at the home to serve a warrant for Bradley Foster, 49. They found Foster in a bedroom at the home, and he had a knife in his hand, the docket said.

The narrative continues to state that Foster refused to drop the knife and barricaded himself in the room for a brief time before removing the barricade and throwing the knife at the deputies. The knife did not hit any deputies, but then Foster allegedly grabbed a “bayonet-type” sword and waved it around before retreating back into the bedroom and throwing the sword at deputies.
