Memphis motorcyclist survives being thrown 10 feet in crash as motorcycle accidents climb statewide

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after a crash that launched him 10 feet into the air — one of more than 1,400 motorcycle wrecks reported in Tennessee this year. As fatalities rise, local riders and business owners say the roads are becoming increasingly dangerous for bikers.

Garret Stawn has ridden motorcycles since the sixth grade. At 27 years old, he experienced his first accident. He says someone hit him from behind Thursday, July 10, sending him into the air.

“It was all so fast that I just remember being on the bike and then face down on the concrete,” Stawn said…
