NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Brentwood family is grieving the loss of 21-year-old Claire Reese Manchaca, one of the many victims of the devastating flood in Texas that has now claimed more than 110 lives. Manchaca had been camping with friends over the Fourth of July weekend when the floodwaters swept through the area.
Her cousin, Cirby Snodgrass, says Claire was with three friends, three girls and one boy, when rising waters trapped them inside a home. The group tried to escape to the attic for safety.
“They were trying to get to the attic,” Snodgrass recalled. “Whenever he said that, they were washed away. One of the girls took the phone, called her parents, told them she loved them… and then the phone went dead. The house is gone.”…
