Indictment: Five men stole Land Rovers, BMWs and other pricey cars from Jersey Shore homes

TRENTON — Five young Essex County men have been indicted on charges they targeted Monmouth and Ocean counties in an extensive auto theft ring that involved home break-ins.

The suspects operated from September to February, stealing more than a dozen high-end vehicles from towns along the Jersey Shore, and in one instance in Essex County, authorities said. They forced their way into homes using a crowbar, ransacked the houses for expensive items and key fobs to vehicles, then made off with the expensive rides.

The stolen vehicles were valued at about an estimated $700,000, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said in a statement…
