Brighton senior’s car stolen during hospital stay, update from police on thefts

BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WROC) — A woman in Brighton has been left distraught after discovering her car had been stolen while she was in the hospital.

Linda Waterstraat, who lives in a senior living community off of Linden Avenue, was admitted to the hospital last week for back surgery. When she returned home, she discovered her Hyundai was not in the spot she normally parks it.

Brighton Police then called Waterstraat, who informed her the car had been recovered after it was stolen.

“(The suspects) did $3,300 worth of damage, ripping every wire apart,” Waterstraat said. “(the police) think it was stolen sometime on the 4th of July.”…
