Florida Weather Alert: Heat Index Hits 110°F and Storms Expected Across South Florida Through Evening

Miami, Florida – Dangerous heat and afternoon thunderstorms are converging across South Florida today, raising the risk of heat-related illness and severe weather impacts from Naples to Miami through early evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, peak heat index values will soar between 106°F and 110°F across Southwest Florida, with near 105°F expected in the southeast. Heat exhaustion is likely with prolonged exposure, especially between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and seek air-conditioned spaces.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop by midday, becoming more widespread during the afternoon and early evening. The greatest risk lies in interior areas such as Immokalee and La Belle, with storms moving east toward Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach late in the day.
