SIOUX CENTER—Iowa state auditor Rob Sand was warmly welcomed by a packed room at the Sioux Center Public Library July 1. The crowd of more than 70 people were eager to hear what he had in mind for the state as he campaigns to be its next governor.
During his hour-long stay, he spoke at length about his vision for bettering Iowa’s economic and education standing as well as the disservice the closed primary system does to Iowa’s voters.
The 42-year-old cast himself as an independent at heart, forced to choose a side to participate in the political system.
