One person injured in house fire near Northwest Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas— Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on Saturday morning near the 5200 block of 8th Street, where one person was transported to University Medical Center for injuries.

According to LFR, the resident awoke to a fire in the basement and called 911. Upon entering the building, fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames in the basement, which were quickly extinguished.

LFR officials also stated that the occupant was injured while exiting the house, which required transport to the UMC ER.
