New Orleans pastor takes backroads to rescue daughter as Texas floods claim dozens

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A New Orleans pastor took backroads through Central Texas last week to avoid flood damage and retrieve his teenage daughter from a Presbyterian camp.

“It just hits home a little more when it’s a community that you are a part of,” said Chris Currie, senior pastor at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Currie had traveled to Mo-Ranch, a longtime camp destination for youth from his church. The camp made headlines when staff evacuated attendees in the middle of the night as rising floodwaters threatened the site. No casualties were reported…
