Weekend flooding threat coming to Texas. Here’s where the greatest risk will be.

Most of Texas has enjoyed a much-needed two-day break from thunderstorms and flooding, courtesy of a strengthening system of high atmospheric pressure over the southern United States. However, as high pressure weakens again this weekend, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across Texas, bringing a chance of flash flooding.

Atmospheric moisture levels are expected to be extremely high across the state, meaning that any storms that develop will be capable of producing heavy downpours with rainfall rates of up to 3 inches per hour or more. Storms will also be slow-moving, resulting in a life threatening flood risk.
