HONOLULU (KHON2) — A fatal Waimanalo collision involving a moped left a 41-year-old woman dead during the late night hours of July 11, the Honolulu Police Department said.
According to authorities, the collision occurred on Kalanianaʻole Highway and Bell Street when a 44-year-old male motorist was traveling northbound on the highway, when he moved into the southbound lane. That’s when officials say he struck the woman on the moped.
How can you avoid a traffic collision?
The woman was ejected onto the roadway, where she was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. She was not wearing a helmet, officials confirmed.
The man sustained minor injuries from the collision and was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant and Negligent Homicide in the First Degree, police said.
