Man charged in knifepoint robbery at Newark hotel

A man is behind bars, charged with robbing a person at knifepoint at a Newark hotel.

The incident happened at approximately 9:45 p.m. July 3 at a hotel in the 1100 block of South College Avenue, according to Lt. Greg D’Elia, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department. There are three hotels in that block, but D’Elia did not disclose which one the robbery happened at.

Cortez Crawford, 31, of Wilmington, is accused of striking the victim in the face and then swinging a knife in a stabbing motion, D’Elia said. He then interfered with the victim’s attempt to call 911…
