Houston Police Officer Released on Bond Following Second DWI Arrest After Collision With METRO Bus

Sean Ratcliff, a Houston Police Department (HPD) officer, has faced his second driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrest after he was involved in a collision with a METRO bus last Tuesday afternoon. Ratcliff, 40, was subsequently released on a personal bond, as per a report by KPRC 2 News. The incident occurred near Crosstimbers at I-45 around 2:45 p.m., where it’s reported that Ratcliff’s vehicle rear-ended the bus while it was at a stop.

The aftermath of the accident was significant. According to a METRO spokesperson, the vehicle involved sustained moderate damage, and all airbags deployed. Two individuals required immediate hospitalization, while seven passengers at the scene conveyed non-life-threatening injuries. Further, the bus in question sustained rear-end damage, necessitating its removal to a maintenance facility for repairs.

Per public records, this is not the first time Ratcliff has been charged with DWI. His previous charge from May of 2023 was dismissed following successful completion of a pretrial diversion program.
