Opelika Police searching for woman wanted in deadly stabbing

OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) – A 22-year-old woman is dead, and police are searching for a suspect after a stabbing early Sunday morning in Opelika.

Just after 12:30 a.m. on July 13, officers responded to the 600 block of Comanchee Drive and found Janiah Thomas, of Opelika, suffering from apparent stab wounds near a crashed vehicle. She was transported by EMS to East Alabama Medical Center, but despite resuscitation efforts, she was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m. by Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton.
