KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Due to a federal funding freeze to a number of programs at Knox County Schools, 27.5 positions have been cut from the district’s offices.
These include 13.5 regional content facilitators, 11 student support staff, and three welcome center liaisons. According to one of those regional content facilitators, they said they help teachers plan their classrooms for specific subjects.
Secondary ELA facilitator Angela Taylor said while she focused on Secondary English Language Arts, there is a team of facilitators to help in other subjects like math or science. Despite the uncertainty she is feeling now by losing her title, she said it could not only impact the teachers she helps, but also the gifted and talented program.
