AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — As previously reported on Myhighplains.com, Central Texas has seen flash flooding over the July 4th Holiday weekend, resulting in more than 170 people still missing and at least 120 deaths confirmed by authorities.
Many government officials, such as Governor Greg Abbott and President Donald Trump, have made their way to the areas, especially Kerrville, the city that officials say was hit the hardest by the flooding. Organizations and non-profits have also made their way to the area to see how they can help those impacted by the flooding.
How to help: Organizations aiding flood relief, recovery in Central Texas
During natural disasters like this one, the Salvation Army works to deploy its Corps Officers to help assist the first responders and others in the community.
We’ve mainly been serving first responders and those who are assisting in the recovery efforts through feeding. They’ve also been meeting with victims and trying to serve them as best they can.
