St. Louis’ Bosnian community marks 30 years since genocide

ST. LOUIS – Saturday marked a somber anniversary for a resilient group of people who have become a big part of the St. Louis community.

Thirty years ago, more than 8,000 people were killed by at the hands of the Serbian army.The attack was later recognized as the Bosnian Genocide. It forced thousands of Bosnians to flee their country, and many settled in or around St. Louis.

On Saturday, St. Louis community members gathered at the Soldiers Memorial Military museum to walk and remember the lives list.

Organizers say it’s critical that genocide is never forgotten, both to remember the victims and to educate future generations…
