Photos: Rescuers in Larimer County save 3 hikers in one day

DENVER (KDVR) — The summer outdoor season is in full swing, and with the influx of recreating Coloradans also comes a busy season for search and rescue groups.

For the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, last Wednesday was no exception. Rescue groups responded to three separate calls for help from hikers in different areas, some of which involved helicopter assistance and hours of effort.

All three hikers returned with the help of the rescue groups, and the sheriff’s office reminded anyone heading outside to be prepared.

“We’re lucky to live in such a wild and wonderful county, and we love that this is a community of active explorers,” the sheriff’s office said. “If you’re headed for a hike, please make sure to take the necessary precautions to keep yourself and your family safe.”

The first rescue of the day started at around 2 p.m., when dispatchers received a report of a hiker having a medical issue near Crosier Mountain northeast of Estes Park.
