Dayton celebrates Hope Day with rally advocating for human rights across Montgomery County

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — To celebrate International Hope Day, Dayton United for Human Rights hosted a solidarity rally, declaring human rights for all.

DUHR hosted a panel of advocates from all over Montgomery County, sharing ideas about how to uphold human rights locally. The afternoon started with a declaration from the Montgomery County Commission, naming July 12th the Day of Hope across the county’s 24 cities.

“International World Day of Hope being celebrated right here, I think is really key because all of the work we need to do starts locally. So having the county declare it as hope, we want to take that energy from that hope and the energy about being hopeful and use it to help transform our individual selves, our families, our communities, and just circles outward,” said said Tony Talbott, board member for DUHR…
