Krista Pawlowski was only 14 years old when she lost her battle to a degenerative brain disorder in 2002.
Since then, her parents have kept her memory alive through Krista’s Motorcycle Event, an annual Make-A-Wish fundraiser reaching its 26th year on Sunday.
“She was sassy, little cute, little high-spirited. She probably would have loved riding motorcycles…” “People have this idea like, ‘Make-a-Wish, oh good cause,’ but until you really realize what it’s like to have a child with that situation, and what it does with your life, it’s really hard to put yourself in those shoes, which I hope no one ever has to do, but I know there are other children like that, facing this every day,” said Janet Pawlowski, Krista’s mom.
