122nd airman honored at Fort Wayne Air Show

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Families and friends from across Northeast Indiana flocked to the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard on Sunday, hoping to soak up the final moments of the Fort Wayne Air Show.

For one Bluffton family, they are the last moments publicly memorializing a beloved son, brother and airman. 19-year-old Sam Peterson died in what the family calls “a tragic accident” on July 4. The 122nd Fighter Wing saw the air show as an opportunity to remember one of their own.

“I can’t imagine what they’re going through,” 122nd Commander Scott Boatright said. “So at least we could do is you just want to be there to support.”…
